The aim of the Audacity Solo Salon is to support and nurture both established and emerging solo performers in the north Texas area. It is also a way to extend the mission of the Dallas Solo Fest beyond just the annual festival itself.

The Excerpts: DemiRepubliCan't - Written and Performed by Shelby-Allison Hibbs In the second installment of Shelby-Allison Hibbs' solo piece on politics and memory, the election results are in! Shelby-Allison has to move from juice boxes to hard liquor as she presses forward in 45's possession of her country. Maybe she'll move to Canada. Maybe she'll sell plasma. Maybe she'll continue to have a codependent relationship with her chihuahuas. Time will tell. Same Difference - Written and Performed by Chris Sykes An experimental one-person piece about the casually extreme and nuanced contradictions that exist all around us. Smell the Roux - Written and Performed by Shayne Larango A legacy member of the Way to a Man’s Heart, Three Squares, and Clean Your Plate Club resists. An irreverent look at how food culture shapes our lives and our bodies.

Davies John S Davies is an actor, director and teacher. This is his second solo play. The first, "Beem", was originally produced by Ground Zero Theater (now defunct) and Kimberlyn Crowe (not defunct) in 1999 at the Deep Ellum Center for the Arts (alas, defunct). It enjoyed some mild success and was seen by tens of people. That experience was so encouraging that he's back 16 years later with this next attempt. Here are some I've toyed with--Maybe/Maybe Not; Signalling Through the Flames; Jesus F#*%^%g Christ!; The New Adventures of Old Christine (that one may have been used...). It's a show about Jesus, or a man who claims to be Jesus, or mental illness, or our collective empathy deficit, or something. You decide... More info on John at: www.johnsdavies.com Portrait of a Rambling Female by Lindsay Hayward Lindsay Hayward is a seasoned entertainer with experience on three continents. She has acted throughout the DFW area, and with Michigan State Theatre, New Jersey's Appel Farm Arts Center, London’s Ashcroft Theatre, and South Africa’s Baxter Theatre. Her vocal stylings include cabaret evenings, choral concerts, and sessions with international rock bands. Hayward holds a BFA in Theatre from Texas Christian University, and a Post Graduate Diploma/MA from Mountview Academy of Arts UK. About the Piece: Portrait of a RAMBLING FEMALE is an interactive performance that chronicles the misadventures of an millennial everywoman. Lindsay Hayward examines all the complex roles expected of a modern female though a medley of scenes, songs, and monologues. The audience is invited to join Hayward on a light-hearted journey drawn from her own various semi-autobiographical experiences, in order to find the common thread that weaves all modern humans together. Premature Emasculation by Kevin Fuld Kevin Fuld is a frequent actor/collaborator with Dallas' Pocket Sandwich Theater. He studied at the University of North Texas and acts as the Artistic Director of Camp Death Productions. About the Piece: Mark Peters is a successful documentary filmmaker who has been recording video diaries every week for twenty-five years. On his 35th birthday he records another and discusses life, love and mulls an important decision. Performed by Nick Haley and written by Kevin Michael Fuld. ANDERSON is a local Dallas actor currently represented by The Campbell Agency. He works full-time as a graphic designer at The Dallas Symphony Orchestra. As a well-rounded artist and Alum of Southern Methodist University (Acting BFA ’13), he has had the pleasure of working with great artists such as Stan Wojewodski, Patricia McGregor, Bill T. Jones, and Will Power. His theatre credits include The Shipment (Undermain Theatre), King Lear (DTC), Blues For Mister Charlie (SMU), and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom (Jubilee Theatre). His latest performance was at Jubilee Theatre as Levee Green in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. He’s a poet and a lover of words and through YoungArts has traveled the country as a spoken word artists. KRIS NOTEBOOM is an arts journalist, director and performance and installation artist. He holds degrees in Communications and Psychology from Hardin-Simmons University and has done graduate work at the University of North Texas and UT Dallas. He serves as Artistic Director of Audacity Theatre Lab and creates via a variety of media - including visual art, podcasts, plays, solo performance, improvisation and (soon) YouTube videos. He is a teaching artist with Junior Players and an adjunct teacher of film and theatre in the Tarrant County College District.
